Beschreibung: I. 'SOUTH LONDON HEROES. Dr. Taylor the Bishop of Kingston unveils a War Shrine in memory of local heroes at St. Mark's Kennington'. Boy Scout band marches through the gates to Saint Mark's - Oval tube station is in the background. A procession leaves the church, led by choristers. MS as Dr. Taylor unveils the 'shrine' and unlocks the doors to reveal a role of honour inside. Soldiers at frame right clutch bunches of lilies to place upon the shrine. The event is covered by several still photographers.II. 'HASTING'S SEA ANGLING FESTIVAL. Many competitors take part in the annual sea-angling festival and despite inclement weather some fair catches were made'. Soldier baits his hook and casts. View along the pier to shore showing the array of rods over the side. Soldier lands a small conger eel. CUs of other competitors, civilian and military - one old man helps himself to a packed lunch of sandwiches.III. 'ENTERTAINING 6,000 OVERSEAS WOUNDED. At the Fête organised by Mrs. Fiske in Windsor Great Park, 6,000 wounded soldiers celebrate the second anniversary of the departure of the Anzacs for the Front'. Soldiers sitting on the grass - some with crutches beside them - wave their hats in a cheer. Pan over soldiers standing on grassy slope - a few women and children are evident, and tents are visible in the background. MS as a woman shows or offers something to a seated soldier - a situation posed for the camera. Convalescents queue at one of the tents, presumably for refreshments.IV. 'LAND MINE EXPLOSION. Officers of the Royal Engineers receive instruction in exploding land mines'. MS of two Tyneside Scottish soldiers sitting in entrenchment - one is working a hand pump to supply air to the mine - a third man looks on. HA as officers and men run out from the 'BABY MINE' and along trench toward camera. Engineer depresses plunger on exploder and cut to LS of two relatively small mines. HA as two men don Proto breathing apparatus - thus equipped, and both carrying small cages containing canaries for the detection of gas, they walk towards the mine entrance. 'OCCUPYING THE CRATER. After the mine has been fired, infantry rush forward and entrench themselves in the crater formed by the explosion.' XLS as troops advance - a model section of trench winds its way across centre frame. MS as soldiers dig in to the lip of the crater and fill sandbags - this group have paper squares bearing the letter 'B' attached to their backs. General scene as teams of soldiers dig in. B team's strong point again - a low parapet of sandbags has been built up on the inside of the crater's lip.
